SARAH NORDLUND, Violin
Sarah Nordlund currently plays in the first violin section of the Alabama Symphony. Previously she was a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Sarasota Opera. She also taught violin with the Opus 118 Harlem School of Music. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Alabama, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude at age nineteen, and a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has performed collaboratively with members of the Berlin Philharmonic and in faculty recitals at both UA and CIM. She has also been a soloist with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra and National Repertory Orchestra. Sarah's family has lived in Birmingham since 1990.

AVI FRIEDLANDER, Cello
Avi Friedlander is the assistant principal cellist of the Atlanta Opera. He received his Master's and Bachelor's of Music performance degrees from The University of Michigan and pursued his professional studies degree from The Cleveland Institute of Music. A former member of The New World Symphony, he also served as a substitute member of The Detroit Symphony and is currently a substitute member with the Alabama Symphony. Mr. Friedlander has also performed with The Columbus Symphony, The Dayton Philharmonic and The Toledo Symphony.
Mr. Friedlander is a former Adjunct Professor of Cello at Andrews University in Michigan and has been trained in the Suzuki Method as a long term apprentice to Dr. Tanya Carey and in short term training with Pam Davenport. His primary teachers have included Anthony Elliott, Stephen Geber, Tanya Carey and David Premo. He has also studied with Richard Aaron, Eric Kim, Yehuda Hanani, Hans Jensen, Michael Mermegan and Debra Fa yroian. He has performed master classes for such cellists as Ronald Leonard, Laurence Lesser, Martin Menking, Stephen Doane, Bernard Greenhouse and Janos Starker. He has attended music festivals that include the Meadowmount School for Strings, National Repertoire Orchestra, National Orchestral Institute, Aspen Music Festival and Pacific Music Festival in Japan.

MARA MCCLAIN, Cello
Mara McClain is a member of the cello section in the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. She is the former principal cellist of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and is a former substitute cellist with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra. She attended the Cleveland Institute of Music in the Young Artist Pogram where she studied with both Richard Aaron and Alan Harris. She continued her studies with Richard Aaron for her undergraduate degree in cello performance at the Cleveland Institute. She has attended the Meadowmount School for Strings, the Encore School of Music and the Aspen Music Festival. She served as prinipal cellist at the Spoleto Music Festival, Pacific Muisc Festival (Sapporo, Japan) and the Cleveland Institute of Music Symphony Orchestra, as well as assistant principal of the Aspen Chamber Symphony. Her former teachers include Martha Gerschefski, Hans Jensen, Eric Kim, Yehudi Hannani, Michael Mermegan, Debra Fayroian and Christopher Rex. Ms. McClain began her celo studies at the age of three as a Suzuki student.

VIKTOR DULGUEROV, Violin
Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Viktor Dulgerov started playing the violin at age five. Viktor recieved his undergraduate degree in violin performance from the Harid Conservitory of Music at Lynn University and his graduate degree in violin performance from Carnegie Mellon University. While Viktor was in Pittsburgh he played with the Youngstown Symphony, Wheeling Symphony and Pittsburgh Ballet. Currently Viktor plays in the first violin section of the Alabama Symphony and is an active chamber musician. Viktor is also an experienced teacher of the violin and he taught a full studio of students while he was in Pittsburgh.

LUCY WOODWARD, Violin/ Viola
Lucy Woodward is a native of New Zealand where she learned violin, viola and piano. While in New Zealand, Lucy earned her undergraduate degree in viola at the University of Auckland. After finishing her degree Lucy was awarded an internship with the Auckland Philharmonic with whom she performed for a year and a half.
Lucy acquired a Masters Degree from Penn State University and completed the Performance Residency Program at Carnegie Mellon University. Lucy is a member of the Westminster College Faculty Quartet as well as a tenured member of the Youngstown Symphony. She is currently a substitute member with the Pittsburgh Opera, Alabama Symphony and Chattanooga Symphony. Lucy has extensive teaching experience.
